Introduction
Setting up a dartboard correctly makes a huge difference to your practice and enjoyment.
Incorrect measurements can affect accuracy, muscle memory and game consistency.
Here are the official dartboard measurements used in homes, pubs and competitions.
Official Dartboard Height
The centre of the bullseye should be:
1.73 metres from the floor
This measurement is taken from the floor straight up to the centre of the bullseye.
Official Throw Distance (Oche Distance)
For steel tip darts, the throwing distance is:
2.37 metres from the front of the dartboard
For soft tip darts, the throwing distance is:
2.44 metres from the front of the dartboard
This distance is measured horizontally from the face of the dartboard to the throw line.
Diagonal Measurement Tip
If measuring on the floor is tricky, use the diagonal measurement:
2.93 metres from bullseye to throw line
For soft tip darts, the throwing distance is:
2.99 metres from bullseye to throw line
This is a simple and accurate alternative method.
